Bi is the ritual jade (the other ritual jades are cong, Huang, zhang, kwei, and tiger )dedicated to heaven. Carved with green tone jade, the motifs have a plump flavor Spring Autumn style. Three types of motifs are shown here: the small dragon, the dual curves auspicious cloud, and the single curve auspicious cloud. Compared to the small Han Dynasty bi with crop sprout motif of The National Palace Museum in Taipei, this Spring Autumn bi seems to have richer elements of artistic flavor. Two bi combines will form a special object such as the one below.
