羊，在中國傳統文化中，有很多美好的寓意。它為吉祥、美好、善良的象徵，《說文》云：“羊，祥也”，古器物銘文中“吉祥”多作“吉羊”, 《詩·小雅·無羊》曰：“羔羊，鵲巢之國也，召南之政，在位皆儉節正直，德如羔羊也”。在中國古代文物中，有很多以羊為題材的玉雕。本器青玉雕琢, 前足趴向前方, 雙角捲曲, 造型古樸可愛, 背上飾春秋特色之如意雲紋, 頭部及背部有大紅沁色, 全身滿佈鈣化跡象.左下圖係晚商或西周玉羊, 與本器相比, 除了姿勢不同外, 身上的紋飾於雕工是主要的不同點.Carved with pale tone jade, the object has the form of sheep with lying front posture.
