東漢長方型綠松石釋迦牟尼佛坐像,長25.8公分;寛17.5公分;厚0.8公分. 本器綠松石單面雕琢, 正面飾釋迦牟尼佛坐像, 背面素面。釋迦牟尼佛雙腳結跏趺坐, 雙手左手在下右手在上的吉祥印. 釋迦牟尼佛身披袈裟, 坐於蓮花座之下, 蓮花座之下飾神面紋; 釋迦牟尼佛背後飾火紋背光, 背光四周飾吉祥雲氣, 意味釋迦牟尼佛在虛空法界向眾生說法; 本器構圖合乎佛教文化內涵, 紋飾及刀工優美, 雕琢技巧具東漢管鑽手工特色。

Eastern Han Dynasty Turquoise Sitting Buddha, The front side has a low relief carving of the sitting Śākyamuni who has shown a full-lotus posture with  hands expressing Dhyana mudra.  The Buddha is sitting on a lotus seat,  wearing a pleated robe draped over the both shoulders with the undergarment gathered at the chest, the serene face with downcast eyes and a meditative expression, flanked by a pair of long pendulous ears cut.  Aureole of fire motif is decorated on the of the Buddha. Auspicious cloud motif around the aureole  implies that the Buddha is preaching to all the beings of the six realms of existence. This is a masterpiece turquoise art work of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
