32. Han Dynasty Inscribed Jade Bi w/ reign Title Houyuan, H. 36 cms, W.28.5, T. 0.8cm

本器和田青玉雕琢, 形制為鏤空出廓玉璧. 出廓部分飾雙龍托住穀紋璧, 表示以龍行雨五穀豐收, 國泰民安. 璧的部分雙面陰刻篆體銘文, 正反面銘文相同, 均取材自:《史记孝文本纪第十》”孝文帝從代來,即位二十三年,宮室苑囿狗馬服禦無所增益,有不便,輙弛以利民。嘗欲作露臺,召匠計之,直百金。上曰:「百金中民十家之產,吾奉先帝宮室,常恐羞之,何以台為!」上常衣綈衣,所幸慎夫人,令衣不得曳地,幃帳不得文繡,以示敦樸,為天下先。治霸陵皆以瓦器,不得以金銀銅錫為飾,不治墳,欲為省,毋煩民。南越王尉佗自立為武帝,然上召貴尉佗兄弟,以德報之,佗遂去帝稱臣。”後元 前88年-前87年2月后元(後元)為漢武帝最後一個年號.

本器雕工精湛, 各紋飾的呈現 細膩生動, 文字雕琢更是優美, 加以差異風化, 擴散暈沁色, 溶蝕孔, 石灰沁等古玉跡象明顯, 是漢代銘文玉璧精品. 來源: (家族百年收藏)

Carved from Hetian green tone jade, the object is a form of bi with an attached extension. The outer part is decorated with double dragons supporting a bi with a crop motif to imply that the dragons will bring the rain and the whole nation will have an abundant harvest. Both sides of the bi have incised scripts of seal style wording taken from ChapterTenth “Emperor Xiaowen” of Historical Records.  At the hole is Houyuan(88 BC – February 87 BC) era carved. , Houyuan (Houyuan) was the last era of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. With differential weathering, diffused markings, dissolving pits, and calcification, above all, the carving of scripts is excellent. it is a large-scale Han  Dynasty bi with an extension attachment.
