The object is carved with yellow-tone Hetian jade and is in the shape of a jade b with an extension. The top part of the extension is decorated with opposite dragon and phoenix combination patterns, and the lower end is decorated with seal script 后Hou character, surrounded by a ring. Below is the Heavenly Emperor with big ears. Both sides of the Heavenly Emperor are shielded by two phoenix birds facing each other. The lower part of the Heavenly Emperor is decorated with 元Yuan characters(Hou yuan is the reign title of the Han Dynasty in BC88-BC87) in the seal script, and the two sides are decorated with dragon patterns facing each other and adjacent to the outer edge of the jade bi. The jade bi is divided into two sections. The outer section is decorated with four sets of God face patterns, and the bottom of each god face is decorated with two dragon patterns opposite to each other. The inner layer of the bi is decorated with a dragon body that shares a jade ring with the top, bottom, left, and right dragon heads. With delicate and mastery carving and differential weathering, and calcification of ancient jade signs, it is a fine work of open-worked jade bi with extension in the Han Dynasty.
